First Steps and More

The past few weeks Cora has really become a full out toddler. She is still smiley and content but has more and more of an opinion. I love seeing this because it is spot on developmentally. For example, she is "fighting" more for her toys. If Max takes something she is playing with...she lets him know! Also, she is showing more preference for certain foods. The girl loves her chicken, dried fruit, and cereal. Also she no longer wants to have anything to do with me feeding her from a spoon. She either has to be holding it with me or flat out smacks it away. And TODAY Cora took her first steps!!! Of course the one part of the week I am not with her she hits this milestone. My mom called me so excited. Tonight Kyle and I got her to take a few steps between us. You have to trick her by holding her hands and then let them go quickly. She does not really want to walk on her own yet but I know that she is headed in that direction. Lastly, we received HUGE news from her feeding therapist: She is mostly likely going to dismiss Cora from therapy next month. AHHHHHHHH! This is such amazing news. Four months ago we were talking electrical stimulation on her throat and months and months of therapy. This girl is such a fighter. She still struggles with a slow moving digestive system and some reflux, but we are hoping with time that she will grow out of it. She has a GI appointment in a few weeks to discuss. Mr. Max is loving being a big brother. He has such a nurturing heart. He loves to help me make bottles, sing to her, and play with toys together. So far we have had very little jealously other than just wanting our full attention at times. Also, Max loves school (this former teacher and school counselor is HAPPY about this). He runs into his classroom and gets working on whatever his teachers have out. Ms. Katie (head teacher) told me a few weeks ago that he is a ladies man. Can you believe it? My three year old is girl crazy! Apparently, Samantha is his girlfriend and they hold hand at recess. This momma is just NOT ready for this. Heaven help me! I cannot say enough great things about his school. I am so grateful that we found it through a friend and that is a half mile from the house. Max is learning both academically and spiritually...I cannot ask for more. We finally seem to be healthy (for now) but I would appreciate prayer in this area. It is hard being sick back to back to back (Cora mostly and then me). I feel like I never want to leave the house again! However we still have to see family and friends, so sickness is something that is just going to happen. I think Cora was so sheltered in Taiwan her immune system is having to play catch up. My pediatrician warned me that she is just going to get sick and there is not much I can do beside put her in a bubble. :)
