15 Month Check and Medical Update

Miss Cora turned 15 months old last week. Wow...home with us for 5 months. Time has flown by. The saying "the days are long, but the years are short" is so true. I am trying to savor each day...even the hard ones because I know that my babies will not be little for long. Her 15 month stats: 18.5 lb (5%), 30 in (50%) long. These percentages are based on the American chart. Our girl is long and lean:). We are so grateful for her growth as she was not even on the weight charts three months ago. The best news came today...Cora has been officially dismissed from feeding therapy. I just cannot believe it! Praise, Amen, Thank You! Cora is eating well overall. She has her preferences like meat, cheese, yogurt, and fruit packets. She does not like the texture of diced up fruit or the taste of milk from a sippy. Our doctor gave us the go ahead to drop bottles/formula for milk. My little stubborn dumpling does not like drinking anything from a cup. I have tried just about every sippy made and every milk made at every possible temperature. S.T.U.B.B.O.R.N. :). The lack of liquids is not helping her slow moving digestive track. I am crossing my fingers that she will try more and more each week. Any ideas for me other moms? Cora's personality is all toddler now. She can throw a nice mini-fit when a toy is taken from her:). She can also take a few steps unassisted but will not do it willingly. She just prefers to crawl and is more cautious physically than Max was. I am really trying to practice with her so her confidence increases. I have a feeling that this girl is going to be my more outgoing, social, yet stubborn child. She does NOT like to be forced into anything. I love her spirit! Cora is saying lots of words now: momma, dada, Max, shoe, bird, dog, blankie, night night, bye bye. She loves to give hugs and kisses, play with her toys, and read books before nap and bed. Cora transitioned to one nap about a month ago. It has gone pretty well for the most part. She sleeps anywhere from 1.5-3 hours (usually 2). Luckily she is content to rest in her crib if she wakes before nap time is over. Thank you for your prayers the last 6 months...they have made all the difference in the world!!!

  1. She is such a fun, precious girl! I can't believe no more feeding therapy! What a miracle!! And if you get tips for getting her to drink milk from a cup, please share. Charley hates it too!

  2. Courtney...thank you for the sweet comment:). So sorry your babies have strep...that picture of Jay was so sad:(. I hope they are both on the mend! So far the sippy cup with the built in straw that is really soft has been the best. I also am using vanilla coconut milk and that has helped some too. But overall it is like a battle with this one to get her to drink. Stinker! :)
