One Year Gotcha Day: August 21st

I cannot believe it has been one year since Cora came home! This year has been filled with many ups and downs but overall just pure joy. She has come so far and I could not be more proud of her. I went through our pictures from Taiwan and I still have not fully processed the trip. Being in Taiwan was amazing let alone meeting Cora for the first time. I am so grateful that my moms got to experience the trip with us. Their presence was extremely calming and supportive. Looking back, I am glad that we got to site see for the first three days...we were on the go constantly and I think it would have been too much for Cora. I will never forget the two hour drive from Taipei to Taichung to pick her up. I was so nervous...my heart was racing the entire way there. I remember meeting her foster mom at the entrance of her apartment building, going up the elevator, and seeing Cora's face for the first time. She had just got up from a nap and was being snuggly. We were lucky that she let us hold her so quickly:). Her foster mom teared up a lot as we were leaving. I can only imagine how hard it was for her to let her go. I am forever grateful for her love and care of my baby girl. I believe that her love enabled Cora to attach to us quickly. Most importantly, I will never forget meeting Cora's birth mom and grandparents. That will be something that I treasure forever. It was a meeting filled with love and heartache.
