Galveston then Destin

Our summer started off with a bang...two vacations back to back. Life is hard here at the Scott house. Our first trip was to Galveston with our friends the Stones and Horners. The Stone's own a fabulous condo in a resort community. It is on the beach and has a huge swimming pool, lazy river, and swim up bar. It is also "kid friendly" which was nice for Max. We had a great time hanging out by the pool, playing water baseball, cooking, and playing games. I laughed a ton over the entire extended weekend! Kyle, Jeff, and Thomas are hilarious when they are together. The girls sat back and enjoyed the entertainment. One thing thing that stood out in my mind was how much Max loved the other families. It is such a blessing when your friends love on your child. So thank you Stones and Horners for a great time! Our second trip...the annual Destin vacation. This was my 22nd or so year to go with my family. We are a little obsessed with the entire Destin/Sandestin area. This time around my mom, step dad, brother, sister-in-law, her mother, nephew, Kyle, Max, and I went. On the way down, mom, Kiwi, and I stopped in the New Orleans area. I was able to meet some of Kiwi's coworkers and eat at Cafe Dumonde. Kyle flew into Destin with Max. In Destin, the weather was beautiful and we spent our time on the beach, fishing, playing games, and cooking (there is a theme to our trips). Our condo was on the water so we were able to fish off the balcony. Kyle, my mom, and I love to fish so this was a great location for us. Speaking of fishing, mom and I went out on our annual deep sea fishing trip. We did not catch much until right at the end. Mom dominated but I was able to pull in a huge King Mackerel too:). She and I were the only ones not seasick. Max and his cousin Drew loved the beach and spent hours playing in the sand and water. I am so grateful my little man is such a beach boy! The last day a few of us drove to Seaside. This the town where Truman Show was filmed. It is a gorgeous beach town with colorful houses surrounded by white picket fences. There are several fun places to eat and shops to go in. The town is like a fairy tale. The trip ended with a long road trip home through some rough weather. Overall, it was a wonderful time with wonderful people.
