Max: Three and a Half

I realized this week that my baby boy is three and half at the end of this month. Time goes by too F.A.S.T. For some reason it has hit me hard how old Max is getting. Today he told me that it is good for him to go to school and be away from Mommy so he can learn and be with friends. WHAT! Yes this is absolutely true but give your momma some time to warm up to the idea buddy! However, one minute Max wants total independence and then the next he wants me to hold him, do it for him, etc. The threes have amazed me. It has been shocking to see the difference even six months can make. Max is so much more capable of doing things independently like changing clothes, cleaning up, using the potty, getting things for himself, and school in general. Max loves to learn and has come along way in learning his letter sounds, handwriting, and other pre-reading skills. I love his preschool and feel like they have done a wonderful job taking care of him on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He talks about his friends Lucas, Bailey, Anya, Ava, and especially Samantha on the drive home from pick up. Last week, Samantha ran up to him and gave him a huge hug goodbye. Those two love each other and are best buds apparently. Max.... Favorite Foods: cheese, hummus, carrots, fruit smoothies, apples, ice cream, yogurt, grilled cheese, waffles/french toast/pancakes, cheese bunnies Favorite Activities: playing outside at the park or yard, learning crafts, storytime, school, looking for bugs outside Favorite Shows: Mickey's Clubhouse, Ocotnauts, Lion King, Finding Nemo Loves: His sister:), his lovie FooFoo, having "fam" time, reading books before nap and bed, listening to music/singing, a routine Favorite Toys: puzzles, board games, anything he can build with, soccer ball Dislikes: trying unusual foods (we are working on this), men with beards, Santa/Easter Bunny at the mall, crowded areas Randoms: loves butterflies, the Coldplay song "Fix You", Star Wars (even though he has not seen it), his room dark for sleeping, doing accents with daddy One thing about the threes is that Max definitely asks why more...and not just out of curiosity. He wants to know why he needs to obey what I am saying. Sometimes I think it is good to give him an explanation but other times not so much:). His vocabulary has also doubled or even tripled the last six months. Last week he said to me "That was a mysterious bug" and "Spiders are not useful creatures". Ha...I didn't even know he knew the words mysterious or creatures. Max is pretty obedient day to day and has a huge heart. He does NOT like disappointing mom or dad. However, every month or two he will have a two day time frame where he spends A LOT of time in timeout. It is like he just has to check if our expectations are the same. I will say...I see more and more boy behavior from him...loves to talk about poop (thanks Kyle) and other gross things. Overall Kyle and I just cannot believe how much we love this little man. He gives the BEST hugs and is so sweet to his sister. I know that he will be an amazing big brother throughout his life. We love our Max-Man!!!
