Updates

It has been VERY interesting since we got home to say the least. Getting ourselves and Miss Cora and USA time has been hard. The first four nights at home Kyle and I were up the whole time and then not able to catch up on much sleep during the day due to needing to be with Max and Cora's doctors appointments. At one point, I took Cora to Children's ER to make sure she was not dehydrated. She has eating issues, heart problems, and was not sleeping so I finally loaded her into the car at midnight. Luckily, she was ok but we received a ton of referrals from the doctor...Cardiology (which we were prepared for), GI, Neurology, and Genetic. I was a shocked and confused and worried for our baby girl. The reason for the referrals was the fact that Cora has low muscle tone...she can pull up and crawl but her legs and arms are a little floppy. This could be due to her heart condition, low weight, or something else. I took her to my pediatrician the next day and he put my mind at ease a bit. He believes that the combination of her heart problem, low weight, heart medicine, and possible lack of enough physical simulation could be the cause...not something neurological or genetic. So we have a plan. We are feeding Cora a higher calorie formula, working on getting her to eat solids, working on her motor skills when she is awake, going to the cardiologist Friday, seeing a developmental specialist (eating and assessment) this week or next, and seeing a genetic specialist just to rule out anything bigger than her heart condition. Kyle and I feel a little overwhelmed but have received lots of support from our families. Our moms have come over when we have needed them and other family members have dropped off food. We are just ready to know what the facts are so we can move forward for Cora's sake. On a happier note, Cora finally slept more last night! It is amazing what better sleep can do for our coping abilities. She is a sweet girl and really laid back for the most part. We know that we will continue to see her blossom as her medical needs are met. We are truly grateful that she made it home when she did. She was not neglected in Taiwan but her medical needs were not being addressed properly. I am praising God that we can tackle this for her. Momma and Poppa Bear for sure! Max has really done well as a big brother. He is so sweet to his sister and has only shown a few fits of jealousy. He has regressed with is potty training but we expected that. The sticker chart is back up and motivating him! I will continue to update! :)
