Cardio Appointment

Before I go into the cardio appointment I want to focus on all of our blessings. Cora is eating better, throwing up less, attaching well, and sleeping more consistently. I think she is truly blossoming before our eyes. We went to the cardiologist today and here is an e-mail summary I asked my mom to write: "CeCe asked me to send an update on Cora's cardiologist appointment.  Hopefully, I can relate, fairly cogently, what was discussed at the appointment.  Cora has what is called, VSD, or ventricular septal defect.  There is a hole in the wall of the heart between the right and left ventricles .  The hole is located just underneath the aortic valve.  The sonogram showed that the hole appears to be smaller than it was.  That is good news!  To rule out any involvement of the aortic valve, Cora will have a more specialized sonogram at Children's Hospital in Dallas on Tuesday morning.  They will have to do this with some medication to make her sleep.  Because the VSD is in  close proximity to the aortic valve, the doctor wants to make certain that the valve is not putting pressure on the hole and making it appear as if the hole is closing.  If this is the case, then surgery to repair (I think it involves lifting the aortic valve) the valve will be necessary. When asked, the doctor said he did not think the valve is involved. Cora is off all cardiac medications.  Her heart is functioning well, her oxygen saturation levels are great, her blood pressure is normal and her EKG is normal!  The really great news is that the doctor said she should be allowed to do everything as a normal ten month old!     Until this is resolved, the doctor cautioned CeCe to limit Cora's exposure to viruses and other transmittable infections.  Kyle and CeCe want to show off their precious new daughter!  However, if anyone has a cold or flu, please wait to visit!  Cora has made great strides since coming home.  SHe is alert, crawling, laughing.  In short, she is a doll!" We go in Tuesday morning for the three hour sadated echo and we feel hopeful that her aortic valve is healthy. More than anything we just want Cora to feel healthy and loved. We are praising God we got her home now rather than later. We believe her medical care in the US is what she needs...also maybe our family:):):). Thank you again for all the love and encouragement!
